The Centre for Jewish Studies is organising a panel about “Jewish heritage and crisis” at the BAJS annual conference in Southampton 13-15 July 2020.
Eva Frojmovic and Jay Prosser were awarded by the Leeds Arts and Humanities Research Institute a small grant for the Sadler Seminar Series “The Archive after Cecil Roth: Jewish studies, cultural history and the Cecil Roth Collection”. One Montague Burton PhD Bursary in Jewish Studies is available in the School of Fine Art, History of Art and Cultural Studies for session 2018/19. The bursary will cover fees at the Home/EU rate. Closing date: extended to 15 June.
A set of 13 unique, almost a century old wax cylinder recordings of Samaritan chant have been found safe and sound in the strong room of the Brotherton Library. The cylinders were given to the University of Leeds by Vivian Gaster, Moses Gaster’s son. They are presently being assessed by the conservation team.
